Kailash View Camp grew from this valley — from the river stones in our walls, the deodar cedar lining our ceilings, and over fifteen years of welcoming people who chose the mountains over the mundane.
We have Swiss canvas tents with real wooden double beds, hand-knotted rugs, and attached bathrooms with hot water geysers. We have pine cottages with their own verandahs, facing the snow peaks.
What we don’t have: a lobby, a queue, or anything between you and the sound of the Baspa river at night.

Swiss Camp Tent
The full tent experience — but not the one from school trips. A proper wooden double bed, hand-knotted ethnic rugs, a reading lamp, and your own attached bathroom with a 24-hour hot water geyser. The canvas breathes in the mountain air, and you sleep like you haven’t in months.
Pine Cottage
Built from local cedar with that distinctive teal roof you can spot from across the valley. Each cottage has its own verandah with chairs, warm wood-panelled interiors, and an attached bathroom with geyser. The kind of place that makes you want to sit outside wrapped in a blanket with chai and not talk to anyone.
Heritage Room
Inside our original stone-and-wood structure — the one that was here before the tents were pitched. Thick walls keep the mountain cold out. The carved deodar octagonal ceiling with its decorative joinery is the kind of thing you keep looking up at. Attached bathroom with a warm mosaic floor, double bed, and a kettle on the bedside.
The days are long here. Between the river, the peaks, and the evening fire, you’ll find yourself in no hurry to leave.

Rakchham is the last proper village before the road climbs to Chitkul — India’s highest inhabited village. You’re in the Sangla Valley of Kinnaur district, Himachal Pradesh, at an elevation where the air tastes different and the sky comes closer.
Getting here is part of the experience. Most guests drive from Shimla (5–6 hours along the Hindustan–Tibet Highway) or take an overnight bus from Delhi to Reckong Peo, then a local taxi up the valley. We’re easy to find — look for the teal rooftops and the prayer flags.
